We all have our stories. We have our business stories and our personal stories, our high and low emotional stories. The question to ask ourselves is, “what is the best way for me to share my story? Is it an article, a workshop, a book, a website, a short presentation, a BLOG, a TED Talk, or is it a one-person show that has legs and can travel?”
Even when you know what you want to convey, it may not be appropriate for the audience you have in mind. This mistake happens quite often. People think their story is for everyone. Not true. One must get very clear about the nature of the story and the audience that may or may not be receptive to it.
Sharing your story can be a humbling, cathartic experience, as well as a life-changer. We can get in touch with those pain points we thought had disappeared. We are reminded of who we are on the deepest level and have to decide which parts of ourselves we want revealed.
Other questions to ask: Is my story relevant? Is there humor? Are my examples poignant? Is it too long, too short? Does it flow? Does it pin point my ONE IDEA, surprise the audience with information they didn’t know, they didn’t know.
It is indeed a challenge to figure out this puzzle of structure, facts, and talents I love so much, that makes me want to jump in and decipher the best words, phrases and emotions for my clients. Whether it’s a website, a presentation, a TED talk or a One-Person Show. It’s about creating the arc of the story and directing the presentation in the best possible way. Because I want you to SHINE, have a GREAT TIME and feel EXTREMELY SATISFIED when we’ve concluded our work.
Keep in mind, even the most mundane story can be transformed into something eloquent and memorable.
As the great director of LIFE of PI, Ang Lee says,
“We need storytelling. Otherwise, life just goes on like the number Pi.”
A FEW TESTIMONIALS
Andrea helped me to free myself from the chains of self-consciousness. Although I was an award-winning architect, I was nervous when it came to standing in front of an audience and speaking. Through improvisational exercises and unique speaking tools that I still use today, Andrea helped me to connect with my youthful spirit, my fearlessness, and how to step into a safe, creative field I had not experienced since my youth—while delivering architectural concepts. My business increased exponentially. I highly recommend her expertise. Bruce Coldham, Architect
